LillyBlack.com started many years ago as a place for me to display my pixel art, and quickly grew into so much more. Over the years I have created numerous fan pages, done up photo galleries, displayed my own art, created message boards and even hosted many blogs! Today, we change.
As January 2010 marks a new year, it also marks a new era in my life. For those of you who know me--and those who don’t--I have spent the past two years studying Psychology with Kaplan University online. Unhappy with the course content, class structure, and the worthlessness of the Financial Aid department, I finally quit. I have attended many community colleges in the past, and even though their level of education does not meet my needs, I felt that they did a better job than Kaplan on many, many levels.
That being said, things have changed for me. Once I was severed from Kaplan University, I put my best foot forward. As of Spring 2010, I was accepted into Texas Lutheran University; the school I wanted to go to two years ago, when I wound up with Kaplan. I have also changed my major. No more will I study things that bore me; no longer do I wish to hate school. I have changed my major to art, and I plan on pursuing what I have always wanted to do; To teach. I want to help children; I feel that I have a lot to give, and that this is the best suited method for my purposes.
If all goes well, I will graduate next year; and be able to get my certification to teach. Wish me luck! I definitely need it.
In the interim, I am writing. I intend on publishing my first book within the next two years. Lofty goals, to be sure, but they are my goals, all the same, and I will not put them down simply because they are set in a place that seems to be difficult to reach. I will build ladders, if I must, but above all else, I will succeed.
